Sifted is the top media outlet covering Europe’s startup scene. With the gaming industry exploding during the pandemic, I pitched an in-depth report on Europe’s gaming startups. The goal was partly to provide their VC audience with key insights into a surging industry—but mainly an excuse for me to write about videogames and get paid for it.

From pitch to lego sponsorship

I interviewed some big industry names for the report, including former EA CEO David Gardner, and co-wrote the report with a colleague. Sifted had a gaming-shaped hole in their reporting, so they loved the idea. The report ended up being sponsored by Lego, which was one of Sifted’s biggest sales of the year.
