Mental Health At Work: Special Episodes

Documenting the dark corners of our working lives

Mental Health at Work was a podcast I created for Oliva. On top of doing standard interview episodes, I wrote and co-produced three documentary-style specials. The first documented how the outbreak of war in Ukraine impacted companies with employees based there. I recorded interviews with HR people guiding their colleagues across the Polish border, as well as people who had escaped bombing in Kyiv and were logging back on to work for the first time. It was recorded and produced during the first 4 weeks of the war in 2022.

The second special was an experiment where I recorded conversations between strangers dropped into Zoom calls together, exploring loneliness for Mental Health Awareness Week. The final one was about crying at work: I interviewed ten people about times they'd cried at work, and wove these together into an investigation on the topic. I also oversaw the creation of an animated short to promote the episode. The podcast got 10k+ downloads during its run, and these specials were some of our highest performing episodes.
